The Clyde Coast Promotion

Morningside publishes TravelSouth, A Visitors Guide to South Coast NSW (at www.southcoast.com.au ), the most widely read tourism product in the region. In 2001, TravelSouth was accessed by over 500,000 readers (see www.southcoast.com.au/webstats ).

The Clyde Coast internet presence (at www.clydecoast.com.au ) is integrated into the structure of TravelSouth, thereby availing itself of this extensive readership, so that people who look to the internet to find information on the South Coast will gradually become familiar with this newly-defined tourism region. Of course, the Clyde Coast concept will also need other cross media promotion for it to become widely known.

The Clyde Coast website comprises pages for the Clyde Coast, Pigeon House, the Budawangs, Clyde River, our beaches and maps, as well as for the main towns, villages and districts in the region and other pages will be added as resources and demand dictate. It also provides to the reader lists of accommodation, attractions and other tourism services. All up, Morningside’s direct investment in developing the Clyde Coast concept is valued commercially at several thousand dollars.

Morningside hopes that a carefully designed promotion will assist in ‘managing’ the impact of tourism on our beautiful region while also providing a common promotional platform by which our neighbours can develop more rewarding commercial tourism-related enterprises. A common platform such as this is aimed at providing the reader with a single source from which they can access all information about the region and the providers of services within it.

The Morningside approach to promotion of its clients interests through TravelSouth has certainly worked well to date. Dariens B&B receives 75% of the readership of its website from its Morningside links; Acreage Manor (70%); Tabourie Lake Motor Inn (73%); North Durras Caravan Park (87%); Depot Beach Cottages (90%) and so on.   The Clyde Coast promotion and website is funded through Morningside’s own capital and is supported by the fees paid by our website clients. Their promotion on the Clyde Coast pages is provided (initially at least) at no additional cost – as part of their Morningside web packages. Others who choose to use other developers to manage their web presences will need to pay for links and banners on the website as their contribution to the costs of developing the Clyde Coast concept.

Morningside would of course prefer to provide website support to all tourism establishments in the region and to present a unified and balanced presence for all to the Internet. We aim to increase the share of the tourism market that choose to stay in our region (and with our clients) rather than elsewhere – we invite you to join us.
